So I’ve been working on my terrain, objective markers and the like lately. I finished two building but forgot to get photos before taking them to the store. I’ll get some pics of them to put up. Right now I’m assembling GW graveyard terrain, converting one to a menoth shrine, cleaning up some fences and walls. Lots to do, Lots to paint. Hopefully I’ll get some pics to show off soon.

An adventure with greenstuff

So I did assemble some models, and I took pics:

So the run down is thorn got a new shield and looks like it gives a +2 arm bonus compared to his other shield. Gallant was shown earlier but I got his greenstuffing done. Kodiak isn’t bad, I realized its the maulers pose after it was done but its still cool. I didn’t want to go to crazy on my first one, next one I’ll get some nature pics of bears and see what I can do (my 5th border army should be pretty cool with these.) Protitus isn’t special, I could and still might do some more work but can’t say for sure. Right now I need to clamp down on terrain. I have objectives and other stuff to have ready for June event so not much modeling going to be done but hopefully I’ll show off some cool terrain.

So with tv series over for the moment and me having a free sunday I’m planning on assembling the rest of my all metal protius, building my plastic kodiak, maybe a few more minis and maybe getting some painting done. Oh, and don’t forget some mass effect 3 multiplayer, got to push back the reapers. Hopefully I’ll have pics for next week, wouldn’t that be nice?

Hangover

I beat the game in the first few days and have been playing a bit of multiplayer, I’ve gotten a few models but I ran an event last sunday and I haven’t done any paint or assembling. Yea, I’m really falling behind. I’ll try to push myself to get to something, I always have lots to do.

Preparing to “Take Back Earth”

So for those of you not into Mass Effect, the third installment is out next week and I’m rushing to get my last character from 1 to the end of 2 to be ready to import into 3. So thats taken a lot of my time, I’m really excited to see where the story goes.

So that why I have little to show these last few weeks. I’ve assembled some models, Gallows Groves, eVayl, Kayzays Eliminators, Arcane Tempest UA, eBalder, most of the bits for my Throne of Everblight. Not really been painting.

So all in all don’t hold your breath for anything awesome next week, though I’m sure once I get through the first playthrough I might find some time…or when walking dead finishes in a few weeks. I’ll try to get cracking on something, no promises theres a galaxy to save.

Hardcore Tournament Recap

So as asked I’ll recap my experience at Templecon 2012 Hardcore Tournament. First off here’s the list I took:

I wish I had gotten more practice with this list but I didn’t do to bad.

First match was against Cryx, pSkarre.

If I remember correctly: Full unit of Blackbanes, full unit of cav, Darreg Wraith, Full unit of witches plus blood hag, 6 scrap thralls, 2 wraith engines, skarlock, a hell diver. I think thats it, I had some answers to this but this was my first match and he played his list very well. I haven’t fought against many battle engines, never the wraith engine and I played against this army poorly. My first turn (went second) was moving forward throwing out admonition and quicken. With apparition the wraith engines were in range and started attacking. I lost my forge guard which is some of my heaviest punch. I killed some black banes but there were behind cover so hard to hit. Once eSkarre popped her feat and most of her stuff went incorporeal I was done. My feat held it off a turn but I was already on the ropes. I lost by caster kill.

Second game: Menoth pSevey

Ok, I’m not going to remember a lot of this. He had the book, 2 vassels, a choir, zealots plus monolith bearer, eEiryss, Lady Aiyana & Master Holt plus attendant priest, crusader, two heavy jacks with ranged aoes & a spiked chain weapon, roven, a revenger. I’m not sure on if thats all. This was good game, He tried to block me with the zealots mini feat. My gun mages went around and killed the book turn two. I moved ashlynn up with admonition but with the hyme of battle those aoe jacks shot ashlynn 4 times. And with eye up it hurt. I was left with 1 hit point and on fire. I got lucky and fire went out. This was feat turn. Rover ties up the crusader, and the mule runs up to keep the aoe jacks from shooting. My forge guard started killing zealots. Gun mages take out vassels & some choir. Eiryss falls short of sevy which ends any chance, his turn he does his best to kill my mule but leave 3 points on him. So the other jack takes a free strike and shoots Ashlynn for the last point of damage.

Game 3: Menoth Thyra

Again Menoth I don’t know the names of everything, 2 units of daughters, vassel, avatar, crusader, choir, nycia, book, roven, knights exemplar, revenger, piper, pEriyss. This time around I admonition rover, quicken the forge guard. The daughters made pretty sort work of most of them. That relied on my gun mages to kill them off, with the avatar gazing and being enlivened I went for the slam on him. The book kept it standing but he didn’t enliven after so that left me with nothing. Lanyssa tried to kill eriyss with a magic bolt but failed too. He continued to kill models, thankfully my gun mages were hard to hit. I’m now facing the avatar and the crusader after they tag teamed my rover. The exemplars move up on a few gun mages, so I pop feat, shoot the mule with little damage (still no knock down) and just cause havoc. I tried to slam the crusader over Thyra but didn’t get the angle but the free booter did some damage. I make out well on his turn with my feat up but I’m losing fast. Free booter is destroyed, I’m running on just a few minis. Holt and gun mages kill the book, vassel & choir. Thrya had moved up but had stealth, and with the avatar gazing I had little options. Ashlynn was in charge range of Thyra but couldn’t charge because of gaze. So I went for it, with damage already on her (thanks to gun mages, mule and holt earlier) I figured I have a chance. So I walk up as far as I could getting within 5, (I believe I was 3 or so inches away) and gallows her. So 3 for gallows, 1 to boost left me with 2 focus stareing a some deadly robots. I hit Thyra thank god, and drug her into base to base. Gallows did a few points of damage. So I went to town, I hit Thyra with Nemesis and boosted to hit. I did now I was down 7 I think and I was a weapon master. So I pushed all in and boosted. I rolled enough damage to finish her off. First win and it was by the skin of my teeth.

Game 4: Legion eThagrosh

This is an army I play so I remember most of the list: 2 ravagors, 6 shredders, 2 forsaken, typhoon, 2 death stalkers. Well first thought, Lanyssa will be awesome here. Quicken on forge guard (spreading out) and admonition on rover. Just moving forward. Legion kills a few devil dogs, and a forge guard. My turn, Lanyssa hunters marks a ravagor and dwarfs are now charging 11 inches with reach. They do a number on him & slam him. Rover moves toward the other ravagore and shoots him. The free booter tangles with typhoon. Legion player get the knocked down ravagore up and it kills a few dwarfs. typhoon hits the free booter and decides to fling him toward ashlynn. He doesn’t got far enough and didn’t realized it was steady. Death stalkers kill rupert and devil dogs. Forge guard charge ravagore again and kill him. Ashlynn pops feat, mule crits ravagore and throws him over a shredder & forsaken. Free booter attacks typhoon. Feat turn for legion isn’t bad. Rabid shredder don’t miss often. Even hits ashlynn with ravagore. Thagrosh freezes free booter and typhoon kills it. At this point Legion is playing back but not a lot left to block charges. So I go for the combo the list was made for. Rover get 3 focus. Lanyssa hits Thagrosh with hunters mark, buccaneer hits Thagrosh with a net and he’s down. So rover charges for free 10 inches and gets to thagy. With 3 base attacks (point blank with gun) and 3 extra axe attacks all auto hitting thagy couldn’t take the punishment.

So, I went 2-2, at this point the tournament cut everyone but the top 8 I believe. So I took a break for a bit, I tried to recount this as best as possible. Any questions let me know.

Back from Templecon 2012

So I didn’t get a lot of pictures while at Templecon, didn’t have a camera and had to use my iPad. I got a pic of the Khador colossus the Conquest plus a video where I try to get a 180 view of it. The panel was awesome to watch, lots of interesting stuff coming out in 2012. The rest of Friday was playing iron arena and getting a bunch of games in. I think I was up til 2 am. Saturday was the hardcore tournament, I went 2-2. Not bad I guess, after that I needed a break, low sleep and a noisy minis hall was wearing on me. So I relaxed a bit then we went to eat at on the boarder Mexican restaurant. Great food. We came back and I was up til 2 again playing games, I redeemed my tickets for prizes (dice) and went to sleep. Sunday I played another game or two and played on my favored scenario board of the con. It was a mission to secure graves from the opponent, and had fun playing. After the raffles and everything a friend took us us to longhorn his treat, it was awesome.

Oh, yea Vault comics also won foodmachine. We took all three awards (most donated, most donated per person & largest single donator) but foodmachine raise over 44,000 items world wide and that’s what’s important.

I’ll try to post next week but I’m taking some time off since I rushed to get stuff done last month. I plan on finishing out some mass effect characters to be ready for mass effect 3.

Last Minute Post before Templecon

So I’ve been painting non stop for like five days, I took a few days off before leaving to finish painting. I’ve crammed a total of 30 models out to help with my options for hardcore.

I’ve barrowed a bunch of models, mostly steelheads of one type or another and can’t wait to run Dominio (though I didn’t get him painted). So I haven’t settled on a list for hardcore yet, but I’ll get the feel of some lists friday (unless I try to get into blood, sweat & tiers). Probably not going to go 42 hours without sleep again, but theres lots to do.

Big thanks to everyone who’s helping me with lending models, my battlefoam bag weighs a ton and its packed full.
